The Miracle of Change

Our first two children were sons..and then God gave Aimee to us!  We have three more little girls to follow in Aimee’s footsteps, but she is our oldest daughter; and hence, our female guinea pig as we learn the “parenting” ropes.   She recently turned 11 and is starting to show signs of going through that beautiful change from little girl to young woman.

I’m so grateful to God for bringing this lovely book to our attention at just the right time! The Miracle of Change, by Ami Loper, uses the most gracious, beautiful analogies to explain all the changes that a girl faces in her body and emotions during puberty.  Rather than contributing to the cultural notion that those changes are “gross” or “a real bummer”…this book enables a mother to show her daughter that these changes are of God, they are beautiful, and they are visionary in the way they prepare the young woman for bearing and raising a generation yet unborn that will praise their Creator!

I had a wonderful time going through this book with Aimee and look forward to doing it three more times with my other daughters!  It actually helped me view the “way of women” with a much healthier perspective that I have in the past.  (I’m a product of our culture, after all!)

I highly recommend this book and also want to draw your attention to another book, The Miracle of Life, also written by Ami Loper, that gracefully enables moms to talk with their daughters about the “birds and the bees”.  Since I have not read this book, I will quote a couple of reviews on Amazon:

For too long we have abdicated our privilege as parents to teach our children ourselves. It has been left to others, TV, movies, peers, etc. The ongoing adventure of passing reproductive information to our children in the light of our great love for them and God’s perfect plan will be guided and enlightened by this lovely book. The gentle, pure approach of The Miracle of Life will help establish a solid foundation for all future lessons with your child.

There is a gentle way to share with your growing adolescent the “facts” of life. The beautiful artwork matches perfectly with the gentle and loving words that tell that life is nothing to be embarrassed about. You won’t find the typical anatomical illustrations in this book, but you will find a natural setting to sit down and have “the talk” with your child.

This book sounds exactly like what I’ve been on the hunt for. My daughter is still too young , but I’m one of those “like to be prepared” kind of gals!

  2. Dina says:

It sounds like a beautiful book. My Lydia is still young but it would be great to have this as a resource.

    Dear Ms. Natalie,
I have been looking for a book about godly femininity to give to my cousin, who is 14. Her parents have separated giving her a feeling of insecurity, so she has started to try to find her identity among school friends. She is struggling and I would like to help her- would you recommend this book? If so I would love to enter your drawing.
    Thank you,
    In Christ,
    ~Rebecca

      Hi Rebecca,

This book is actually a tool to teach young girls who have not yet experienced their womanly cycle how that all works according to God’s design. It’s probably not the application that you are thinking of. : ) There are several other books that WOULD be good for that though! If you browse through the books for maidens, you will find some recommendations!
      Blessings,
      Natalie
