Crockpot Blog Spot

Erica sent a great link in response to the crock pot post a few days ago. HERE it is. A year of Crock Pot Cooking…wow. That is ambitious. I like my crock pot. But, well, maybe not THAT much. Anyhow, the nice thing about this blog is that there are hundreds of crock pot recipes along with her family’s “verdicts” about each one. What do crock pots have to do with being visionary? Maybe I’ll let you answer that question. Send me your thoughts! : )

My hubby teases me about the crock pot all the time…"Why would you want something that cooked your food SLOWER?"
I know he's joking, but if he walks in the door at 6:30 he doesn't always realize how crazy the house and kids have been all afternoon. If you have older kids in activities then a crockpot is very helpful, simply because it lets you do your prep time in the morning when they are busy or at school, and in the afternoon you are free to pay attention to them. I've tried many recepies, but some of my faves come from the booklets you see at the checkstand by Betty Crocker or Pillsbury.

That is a great blog that I followed all last year. I keep a binder of printouts of her recipes I want to try. So far we have tried about a dozen and they were great (the cranberries for Thanksgiving were a big hit with all!). The feedback from her family is very accurate, in my opinion.

I think using a crockpot is visionary for me because it frees up my time, energy and thoughts during the day. It allows my precious hours during the day to be spent serving the Lord, my husband and children by running the household and training and educating my children. It is also an easy way to involve my kids in cooking. I think it is a great example of following the way of the ant and associated wisdom from Proverbs.
