The root issue for Wemmicks is that we don’t want to be Wemmicks. We don’t want to be created. That would make us accountable to a Creator.
So some Wemmicks live in denial and say there is no Woodcarver. They say it’s foolish to believe in God. God calls them fools.
And some Wemmicks will admit there is a Woodcarver, but they will not acknowledge any responsibility toward Him. God lets their minds go. Bad things follow.
And some Wemmicks kiss the Son, fear God, and surrender. God calls them wise.
I am currently reading through The Days of Vengeance: An Exposition of the Book of Revelation by David Chilton. Every page inspires me to worship the Creator. Revelation is all about the victory of Jesus Christ, our Creator and Redeemer. Here’s a fascinating excerpt about Wemmicks:
“In Revelation 6:3-4, the Lamb breaks the seal, and St. John hears the second living creature saying: Come! In answer to the call, a rider on a blood-red horse comes forth, who is granted by God the power to take peace from the land and that men should slay one another, and a great sword is given to him.
This second rider, standing for war, shows how utterly depraved man is. God does not have to incite men to fight against each other; He simply orders His angels to take away the conditions of peace.
In a sinful world, why are there not more wars than there are? Why is there not more bloodshed? It is because there are restraints on man’s wickedness, on man’s freedom to work out the consistent implications of his hatred and rebellion. But if God removes restraints, man’s ethical degeneracy is revealed in all its ugliness.”
John Calvin wrote:
The mind of man has been so completely estranged from God’s righteousness that it conceived, desires, and undertakes, only that which is impious, perverted, foul, impure, and infamous. The heart is so steeped in the poison of sin, that it can breathe out nothing but a poison stench.
But if some men make a show of good, their minds nevertheless ever remain enveloped in hypocrisy and deceitful craft, and their hearts bound by inner depravity.

Chris Tomlin has a song out called, White Flag. When we raise our white flag and surrender our lives to Christ, we remain Wemmicks—but with a hope of one day being transformed into the likeness of our Maker for all eternity.
Truly, truly, I say to you, unless a grain of wheat falls into the earth and dies, it remains alone; but if it dies, it bears much fruit. John 12:24
If you are reading this in an e-mail and want to hear the song, you’ll need to click through to the blog.
Joyfully and gratefully raising my white flag,
I admit it! “If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sin and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (1 John 1:8-9, ESV)
It can be humbling to let others see our imperfections and to be honest about our sin…but when we stop pretending to be great within ourselves we can point others to the One Who is truly great, our Lord Jesus Christ!
