A Love Waxed Cold
I didn’t even feel like reading the Bible today. I didn’t feel like reading it yesterday either. Or the day before that, or the day before that.
Fifteen years ago, as a brand new Christian, reading and learning was what I lived for, literally. It was my deepest longing, it consumed my every thought, along with as many moments as I could devote to my new passion; my Lord and Saviour. But today? Not so much… There was no yearning, no desiring, no seeking, only apathy.
God Is Faithful
It was a valley. A deep, long valley. And I was tired. Tired of the walking alone, tired of the darkness, tired of the indifference. I began to wonder, “How will I ever teach my children to follow after God, if I don’t lead the way?” I knew I must teach them, I must be their example, but it just wasn’t there. I knew I was still a child of God, but I also knew this couldn’t continue. And thankfully, it didn’t.
The Lord! Oh He is good! He is merciful and kind, His love is everlasting and true. And He never leaves us in the valley for longer than what we are able to bear.
No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, so that you will be able to endure it. 1 Cor. 10:13
Hearing His Voice
John 10:27 says, “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” I had walked too long in the land of indifference, and He had had enough!
See how great a love the Father has bestowed on us, that we would be called children of God! 1 John 3:1
My heart overflows with absolute and utter joy as I recall again where I was just a year or two ago, and observe where I am now. The Lord delights in His children. And I am elated to proclaim this truth!
What about you?
Where are you in your journey? Are you at a place where the Word for you is living and active? Or do you feel lukewarm in your walk with the Lord? If you are among those who can be referred to as lukewarm, there is hope!
The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day. I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him! Lamentations 3:22-24
Ask, seek, beg if you have to! The Lord hears you, for He is patient toward you, and desires you.
And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out within our hearts through the Holy Spirit who was given to us. Romans 5:5
