Unbelievably Good Book…PLUS a Cheap Coffee Trick

I went to bed last night reading chapter one of One Thousand Gifts, by Ann Voskamp.  It is absolutely one of the most amazing books I have ever read.  I want to get it for everyone I know.  It’s hard to describe this book…it is profound.  It is REAL.  (You know…like Velveteen Rabbit Real.)  It is visionary in a different way than our group has explored before.  I skimmed ahead of the chapters a bit…jumping at the bit to “get there”…and I’m just dying to read more…and observe God change places in me that are hard and “unchangeable”.

If you have been thinking of getting this book, but haven’t yet…do it. They are $12.99 each, and if you buy two copies from Dayspring and use the code BLOOMBOOK, you get free shipping.   Buy two, because you will definitely want to give one away as a gift.  Probably more.

Finally, do you like coffee?  I’m a Norwegian, so of course, I love my morning coffee.  And I’ve always loved the flavored creamers too.  But after realizing what kind of rotten ingredients are in those, I decided to switch to real cream and a flavored vanilla syrup.  But after realizing that was not a real huge step in the right direction (not to mention a more expensive step), I decided to try my husband’s invention.  Real cream and a spoonful of POWDERED sugar.  Weird?  Maybe.  It is just as good as the flavored creams.  No…it is not flavored.  I imagine the vanilla.  BUT…it is close.  I have no clue why it is a lot better than granulated sugar, but it is.  It took me a long time to believe my husband on this one, and I was the loser.  Now I have my coffee every morning with real cream (from a real cow, when we can get it), and a spoonful of cheap, powdered sugar.

I can feel it.  Some of you are judging me for the sugar.  I’ve got some vices that are a whole lot worse, so lighten up on the sugar thing, OK?  Besides, I got up at 6:00 and exercised today.   So I plan to enjoy my homemade blueberry scone (with sugar…and white chocolate chips) and sweet coffee.

I’m Norwegian, remember?
