Rescued: New Documentary on Adoption (A Review and Giveaway!)

I’m excited to introduce you to a wonderful new documentary produced by Wintons Motion Pictures and Hedrick Brothers Productions called Rescued: The Heart of Adoption and Caring for Orphans.

Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

James 1:27

This is the message of Rescued, that one of the most incredible, tangible ways we can demonstrate the love of Christ is by caring for orphans through the ministry of adoption.  By way of informative interviews and testimonies, Rescued gives the viewer a real look at what adoption entails and how it serves to impact lives not only here on earth, but for all eternity.

Our family was moved and inspired by this film.  If you want to increase your vision for adoption as well as expand the vision to those around you, I recommend purchasing the film and sharing it with family and friends.

If you enter the code: $5OFF when you check out, you’ll get the film for $15 instead of $20!

We are a young family and haven’t adopted but we are interested in it and I would love to see this doc!

  2. Hannah says:

This looks like a wonderful dvd. My parents have looked into adoption and we have friends adopting a boy from the Ukraine. When we went to an adoption event to meet some children coming over from the Ukraine, my heart went out to them. These children need to hear the gospel and a message of hope and redemption!

  3. Jenny says:

Amen! What a great work. May God be glorified through this film. James 1:27 is our life verse. We will be completing the adoption of our 4th child on may 18th. The Lord has opened doors and provided all of our needs. He blesses obedience to His Word. Our current adoption is the product of our families labor outside of our local abortion mill. A young girl was turned away, late term, and we stepped in, and rescued one being led to the slaughter. By God’s sufficient grace, He has blessed us! I look forward to seeing this film.

Very nice that your blog is touching on this subject Natalie!!!!!!!

Quite often when people (expecially large family minded Christian families) ask about our family and I say we have 15 children we receive wows etc.. BUT then when some of these same people find out that seven of our children are adopted they seem let down like our seven adopted children don’t count almost like we cheated or something. Ha ha I did not realize we were in a competition.

I also noticed that people (we find this also among Christians we have come across) are quick to celebrate the birth of a biological baby entering a family but gloss over the addition of a semi older adopted child entering a family. Kind of sad. A child is a blessing from God no matter by birth or adoption.

I do agree with what is said on the clip that adoption is a calling of sorts (expecially in adopting older children). I do also think more people are called than actually listen and move forward in faith to God’s call to adopt for lots of reasons. It is an easy calling to push aside thinking things like ‘surely we did not hear God right…’

Non of the seven we adopted had a personal relationship with Christ when we adopted them. There ages (as you know) were 2- 14 when they first entered our family. All but one has since accepted Christ.

Anyway, I could keep rambling on…you know me.

I love that family of yours!!!

    Warmly,
    Tina

I’m bummed that the only way I can enter this giveaway is if I have facebook. I understand it’s a good way of promoting a product and a blog, but I don’t like feeling pushed into the social network I got rid of a year ago because it was damaging to my emotional and spiritual life. I guess I just find it a little bit ironic that in order to enter a giveaway on this blog, which is all about being in the world but not of the world, is to be a part of a network that is such a detriment and stumbling block for so many people.

Just my thoughts. I mean it in love! Thanks for sharing the review.

    • Dear Melissa,

I’m so sorry about that…I am on Facebook for the dominion purpose of this blog and our home business, but do not use Facebook in the traditional sense as a part of my social life. I don’t accept “friends”…and I don’t participate in that aspect of FB. It is simply a tool that I am claiming for the glory of Christ. I know many other Christian women who use FB in the same way. Facebook has the potential to be a stumbling block for many because of our sinful hearts…but FB in and of itself is not a living, sinful thing. Just a tool. I think it was wise for you to get off FB under your particular circumstances, and I commend you for that decision. I’m sure it wasn’t easy. I believe you CAN enter the giveaway by using your email address. You would not be able to have as many entries, since many of them involve FB, but the ones that don’t are available to you. Grace and peace to you!

  6. Barb S. says:

We have wanted to adopt for years…and it’s just not been possible. Still praying some day God will make a way.

  7. Theresa says:

I would love to have a copy to share with friends! We are doing foster care and have enjoyed ignighting others to do the same!

  8. Anna Marie says:

What a great movie….this is a topic near and dear to my heart.

    • Anna Marie says:

I have an adopted sister….and we love her so much. She is a grown woman now, but has special needs and I love helping her with her needs. I also support Project Hope Ministries, an organization that takes in Ugandan orphans in their country, and gives them a safe home and a Christian education. I have painted 2 portraits that were auctioned off to raise funds for this project. And I was an unwed mother when I was younger, and I allowed my baby to be adopted. I have received word that he has been a joy to his parents, and loves the Lord, and I look forward to meeting him, if not on this earth, then when we are both in heaven!

  9. Janet says:

We are not on Facebook but would love a chance to win!!

  10. Paula says:

So many of my dear friends are adopting! It is such a joy to help them on their long, yet rewarding journey.

  11. Katrina says:

We heard of this dvd first through another ministry, and are glad you are getting the word out also… We are a young family, but are open to and praying about adoption in our future. We know many families that have adopted, and it is certainly a blessing from God to have that opportunity. And we ourselves were once orphans before our Father adopted us into His family- what a joy (either in supporting the ministry of adoption or to adopt yourself) to demonstrate physically this beautiful spiritual truth.

  12. Anna Marie, what a wonderful testimony! Thank you for sharing that. It truly blessed my heart and brought a happy smile to my face. I praise Jesus with you for His work in your life and in that of your child.

  13. Katie says:

My dream in so someday open a Childrens home in Ghana, where I left my heart when working in an Orphanage there 14 years ago. My Husband and I plan on going back soon, and starting plans. God has placed Orphaned and uncared for shildren on my heart since I was a small child, and I appreciate this video so much!

  14. MaryEllen@TheImperfectHomemaker says:

We are praying about the role God would have us to play in adoption. Should we adopt? Should we give of our financial resources so others can? We don’t know, but our hearts are open and ready to proceed down whatever path He directs us to.

  15. Cathy Ludi says:

I was adopted myself and now my husband and I are starting the adoption process!! Would love to see this movie!

  16. Patty says:

We are an older couple now but I would still consider adoption.

  17. Yvette says:

My husband and I would love to watch this DVD on adoption. Thanks, Natalie for your post.

    • Yvette says:

I posted; then I read the question. We’ve certainly seen many families at church adopt and supported a few families. We’re praying about it and learning as much as we can.

  18. kim says:

I don’t see a way to enter if one doesn’t have facebook….liking the movie unlocks other entries apparently. I don’t need to enter tho b/c I already got 2 copies! Rescued is EXCELLENT–I passed on a copy to the local foster care/adoption agency we got our boys through so they can inspire others with it. Met the Wintons recently….wonderful people with a wonderful vision–PLEASE support them and their venture.

  19. Emily N. says:

We are hoping to adopt – this movie sounds interesting!

  20. Bambi @ In the Nursery of the Nation says:

Love RESCUED and LOVE the beautiful message it’s sharing!

  21. Melissa D says:

How had adoption touched my life?

    In two ways…

    1) The first time I ever heard of adoption was regarding human adults adopting human children into their home, life, and culture–forever. And ever since then, my heard desired to provide that for a child who doesn’t have it. I don’t believe having children is about believing that you are good enough or will do a good enough job but that it’s about knowing you will love the child more than you love yourself and trust God to provide what you cannot.

    2) I am adopted into the spiritual family of God, for which I am so thankful, humbled, and awestruck, how could I not share the gift of mere human adoption with another person? *I* want a forever home, how could I deny another?
