Once in a while I can’t resist writing a little bit about our family life. For Christmas, Aimee and Tim each got a cockatiel. So we are now the proud owners of two more animals. (As if we didn’t already have enough excitement and noise around here…) Our cockatiels were “on hold” for awhile because they were babies still on formula. (Don’t ask me any questions…I don’t know the answers.)
But the big night finally came to go get our “babies”…and they have been a HUGE HIT ever since they joined us. I’m not really an animal lover. Why? They poop. I hate that. I also hate animal smell. BUT…I really like these birds.
- They are friendly.
- They make the cutest singing sounds.
- They love to be part of a flock (yes…I’m talking about our family here).
- They are curious and adorable…and I think they can read minds.
- Their poop is small, and the newspaper can be changed every day. By the children. (So far, I can’t smell anything.)
So here are a few pictures, and if you can get past those, you’ll find some WOW links you might enjoy.
- Generation Cedar has a stimulating series going on right now related to public education.
- Raising Olives has some excellent tips on teaching writing the Charlotte Mason way.
- Femina has a good dose of encouraging perspective in case you ever feel a little over-worked and under-appreciated.
- And last, but definitely not least, I Take Joy has some words of wisdom if you happen to be swimming upstream…and all the fishies going the other direction are upset about it.
Have a grace-filled week end!
You’re children are adorable!!! Oh and the cockatiels seem sweet!
I am like you, I am not an animal lover either. I hope to one day get past that, because my children have been chanting for pets forever. We do have a fish tank. They were once pets, but no longer, since they can’t be petted according to my DD9. too bad. I enjoyed the fish!
FYI…Cockatiels DON’T STINK! Just in case that’s one of the things that bothers you. (It definitely bothers me.) We did break down and let them have hamsters last year…but they DO stink…so they have to keep them downstairs in the craft room where I rarely go. : ) Believe it or not, fish creep me out. I used to have bad dreams about being in a swimming pool with tons of big fish. Can’t get past that. I think I’m fishaphobic. : ) Anyway…if you ever decide to cave in…I recommend cockatiels. I can’t believe I like them so much.
